Even with limited knowledge and experience, you can build and maintain websites for profit. Here are just some ways you can do so.

1. Develop Websites for Local Businesses

Approach local business persons and sell them on the necessity and financial benefits of having a professional website. Local advertising may get you started as well, but expect to get a large portion of your business from referrals.

Charge your clients for the initial design and setup of the website. Work with them to develop a theme for their site based on their unique advantages over the competition. Keep the site simple to start with so that the cost of producing it is not prohibitive to the business and you can complete it profitably in a short time.

In this business, you can also make money on the maintenance and ongoing support of the website. Charge recurring monthly fees for such services needed as web hosting, updates and improvements to the site`s content, search engine optimization and submission, increasing traffic, traffic analysis, mailing list production and maintenance, and much more.

You don`t have to be a master Internet programmer to provide needed, additional services. There are many free and low cost sources of scripts and other resources available to you on the Internet. Offer your clients (and charge extra for) flash introductions, animated graphics, syndicated content, traffic counters, submission forms, chat rooms, pop-up windows, autoresponders, and more.

2. Sell Websites on the Internet

Build web stores, search engines, shopping portals, and other websites and sell them on the Internet.

Some develop sites from templates sold by others. Others build websites from scratch. These websites have been sold on the Internet as turnkey businesses through eBay and other websites.

Another option is to take existing free services and resell them. For example, you could take advantage of free web stores available to you on the Internet. Register a suitable domain name, obtain free or low cost web space, and host that free store at your domain on your web space. Promote your website and increase traffic. Finally, sell your website to the highest bidder on eBay. Be sure that either your Reserve Price or Opening Bid is high enough to make it profitable to you. You will need to transfer the domain name to the buyer.

3. Become an Internet Marketer

Build your own unique website based on a niche theme that has a sufficient market. Then tie in your content with appropriate affiliate programs and your own as well as other peoples` products and services.

To increase commissions and sales, you will need to regularly maintain your site by updating content, increasing targeted traffic, adding appropriate products and services, et cetera.

These, then, are just a few ways that you can profit financially from building and maintaining websites.

Duh Idiot’s Guide to Working from Home - Tips to Balancing Work and Home Life

Duh Idiot's Guide to Working from Home - Tips to Balancing Work and Home Life

Balancing your work and home life with a regular 9 to 5 is hard enough, doing it when you work from home is FAR more challenging. You will find that operating a home business will bring to light many new challenges. So what's the deal?

Keywords:
work life balance, starting a home business, work at home

Article Body:
Balancing work and life, or as its popularly referred to as The Work Life Balance.

Balancing your work and home life with a regular 9 to 5 is hard enough, doing it when you work from home is FAR more challenging. You will find that operating a home business will bring to light many new challenges. Some of the best advice I can offer is contained right here.

I love it when I see "work-at-home" programs on TV and on the Internet displaying images of wealth and retirement associated with their programs. They always show someone sailing on a yacht sipping on champagne or swinging their "5-iron" on the back nine, or relaxing in a hammock on some beach in the Caribbean.

They all talk about "taking back your life" and how much time you can now have for family and the "important things" in life. Working from home will FINALLY allow you all the time you need to do personal and fun things. They make it look as though with a minimal time investment you'll be relaxing and "living large" in no time.

Well that's a "Big Brown Load" Lorraine. Let me break it down...

Running your own home business certainly has its benefits, but it also has its drawbacks. You're no idiot, surely you realize there's good and bad in everything in life. Believe me it's FAR better to be in control of your life and your own destiny, but don't be fooled by those images of instant wealth and retirement. These people are selling something. Remember that Reggie!

You're smart enough to know there is a trade off with everything in life. Nothing is perfect and I feel that if you're going to succeed with your home business, you should be well aware of what really awaits you as a work at home entrepreneur.

The big myth in running your own home-based business is that it will allow you to spend more time with your family. Now this is technically true - simply due to the fact that you will be working from home means that you'll be around your family most of the time out of default. But that doesn't necessarily mean that time is "quality" nor "recreational".

You must understand your HOME is now also your place of BUSINESS. You make your own schedule, true, but this doesn't mean you will have any more "free" time than you had if you worked a regular 9 to 5.

Working from home presents time management challenges. At home you have the opportunity for far more distractions than in a traditional work place, i.e. the kids, spouse, relatives, the bed, the dog, chores, TV, the doorbell, the bed, phone, the couch, the refrigerator, the co-ed next door, the bed, the gardening, the newspaper, the bed, the next installment of "Harry Potter"...

Did I mention the bed...GET THE IDEA?

Homes, by nature, are a MINE-FIELD of distraction. These distractions will limit the amount of actual free time you have to spend with your family on true recreation. Now distractions are unavoidable, falling prey to them is avoidable. In order to keep focused on work you must create a work schedule and stick to it. When it's time to work you must get to work.

So what can you do? You should keep a calendar, schedule and to-do list. Utilizing Microsoft's Outlook program is the BEST way to accomplish this. Outlook quite literally acts as your personal assistant.

Just not as pretty...or handsome...depending on which way your door swings.

Get up every morning and act as though you're going out to work. Keep regular work hours and don't stray from them. All these things combined, will help to minimize falling prey to distraction.

Distraction will either take away from your leisure time or your work time. Leisure time means less quality and work time means less money, you can't afford either. If you adhere to this you'll have plenty of time for both business and leisure in your life.

I also suggest setting up your "office" someplace in your home where you can have some privacy. Avoid setting it up in your bedroom or other common area of the home. Find a location where you will have ample room. Any place where you can lock the door, and not be disturbed by household activity is optimal.

Running a successful business requires a serious time commitment. If you don't spend time on business activities, how can it possibly become profitable and flourish? I've never met a wealthy business owner that didn't invest regular hours into their business. Sure they play hard and take long vacations, but it's all relative, because they put in 16-hour work days when they're at work.

Do you think if Bill Gates only spent 20 hours a week developing Windows he'd be the richest man in the world today? Maybe tomorrow, but not today.

The bottom line is if you don't approach your home business with realistic expectations you will certainly set your self up for failure. Don't pay attention to the "Get Rich Easy" scams. Nothing worth doing is ever easy.

Be careful of Clickbank – The one secret I should not have disclosed!

Do you know you could have been duped unwittingly? It is not your fault; rather it is the vendors fault for deliberately deceiving you. But take heart, this is only the minority, most vendors are honest businessmen.

Article Body:
I have a secret I have got to reveal. Keep this to yourself. Do you notice when you visit most sales page, they have an "affiliates sign up" or "make money here" link which directs you to their affiliate sign up page? Imagine this scenario, Thomas visits the site through your affiliate link, he reads the sales copy and is convinced but the price $79 is a little steep. He sees the "affiliates sign up" link and clicks. He realizes he could get at 60% discount with the commission and so he signs up with clickbank and buys through his own link.

The vendors do not want this to happen right? Wrong! Fact is, they had intended to sell at $31(40%) of the price and so set it at $79. The affiliate link was prominently displayed so visitors could easily see it and sign up and get the discount. This make the buyer thinks he has got into a "winning" situation but in fact the vendor got the sale he wanted and an affiliate at the same time.

Armed with this knowledge you should be able to be more discerning when selecting the products to promote. That said, here are some ways which you can profit from Clickbank.

Tip 1
Criteria for selecting your products. Never select a product that is priced too high, pays out commission below 50% and a sales copy that sucks. Amazingly, there are affiliates promoting these products still!

Tip 2
Make full use of the resources page. They are there for a reason, they must be working otherwise or they would not have been there. That is not to say you can use your own promotional tools, by all means go ahead!

Tip 3
Getting traffic. There are many ways of generating traffic. One of them is by using Google Adwords. It is targeted and fast. You get quick targeted traffic and the thing is, if you do your keyword research well, you can get it cheaply too. More on free traffic generators is available in my book "Clickbank Profit Machine"

Insiders Secrets to Marketing Your Business On the Internet by Corey Rudl - Reviewed

Insiders Secrets to Marketing Your Business On the Internet by Corey Rudl - Reviewed

Summary:
This review is meant to give you a peek inside Corey Rudl's system "The Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business On The Internet".

Keywords:

Article Body:
I came to understand that "Insider Secrets" was a labor of love developed by Corey Rudl and it didn't happen easily for him. Hours of learning and research went into gaining his knowledge and compiling this marketing system, in a manner that benefited me personally.

This review is meant to be a useful, educational and an instructive resource for anyone interested in starting their own internet business.

Read it - and let me know what you think.

In June 2005, tragedy struck when Derek Gehl lost his good friend, colleague, and mentor, Corey Rudl, to the sport Corey was most passionate about -- car racing. Corey's passing stunned the entire internet marketing community. But one thing became very clear, very quickly: everyone was adamant that Corey's dream must continue, no matter what.

And so, while Derek had always been content to work "behind the scenes," he suddenly found himself thrust into a very public role. With the blessing of Corey's family, and the support of all of Corey's customers, Derek began running the company. Corey might be gone but his system is still very viable, and I would suggest you take a serious look at it.

Frankly when I finished studying Corey's internet marketing system, "The Insider Secrets To Marketing Your Business On The Internet", I was overwhelmed by the huge amount of information he managed to pack into this tutorial. My package included two hefty binders with over 1,300 pages, 4 guidebooks and 3 resource CDs. But I guess I shouldn't have been surprised; after all, when the box containing these materials showed up at my door, it weighed in at over 10 pounds!

That's 10 pounds of the most comprehensive internet marketing strategies, test results, case studies, tools, and ideas for generating income online that I have ever read.  In fact, the only negative here is the time I needed to study all the information packed into "Insider Secrets".

If you're unsure who Corey Rudl was, you should know that he was a recognized expert in online marketing for the last 10 years. Not only did his "Insider Secrets" generate millions for him in online sales, his sites still attract thousands of visitors a day.

His package includes step-by-step advice for starting your own internet business.  It covers how to build a website for under $100.00 and where to find those hot niche products that everyone talks about.  It showed me many free and cheap online tools, resources and software that I found invaluable.

Of course, getting visitors to your website is always the first priority and Corey's system showed me how to get new qualified visitors for free.  He went into detail on how to get high rankings in the search engines, even Google.  He also shared his secrets on writing sales copy that helped increase my sales substantially.

What's really great about Corey's "Insider Secrets" is that it can show anyone how to build a profitable internet business even if you're completely technically challenged like me.

And if you already have an internet business as I do, this excellent information will take you to the next level. The advanced sections of his system show you how Corey increased his profits dramatically.

It will take time to go through this package and really get a total grasp of all his techniques and strategies.  After all, it contains two binders of lessons plus the three CD's and the four guidebooks. You may be a little confused at first but reread it again because it will all make sense.

This package is not a quick fix as I said.  It will take time and patience, but it was worthwhile for me.

I feel completely comfortable giving the "Insider Secrets" system a 9 out of a possible 10! It is 1,300+ pages of step-by-step lessons containing the exact strategies Corey personally used to build a highly successful internet business.  If you follow this plan like I did, you too will build a business on the internet, in a reasonable period of time.

Avoiding Internet Marketing Burnout

Avoiding Internet Marketing Burnout

Word Count:
1351

Summary:
Many people in the "Internet Marketing" niche burn out, and quit, often before they have achieved any success. Here are several reasons why they burn out and how you can avoid this deadly syndrome, shared with you by a 10-year Internet marketing veteran who has coached and mentored hundreds.

Keywords:
internet marketing, burnout, avoiding burnout,

Article Body:

Over the past 10 years, I've had dozens of friends, who had successful online businesses, tell me that they were going to quit the Internet marketing business and do something else.

Over the past 10 years, I've gone to hundreds of websites to discover that the owners of the sites had left the online world... simply packed up and quit. Some of them explained why they quit, others simply allowed their domains to expire and quietly faded away.

Many of the people, in both of the cases above, simply experienced "Internet marketing burnout." They no longer enjoyed Internet marketing and so they went on to do something that they enjoyed more.

Let's briefly examine some of the causes of Internet marketing burnout and perhaps address how you can avoid it!

One of the most prevalent causes of Internet marketing burnout, that I've noticed, resulted largely because people were selling thing that they really didn't believe in.  They simply tired of trying to "convince" people that they needed and wanted products that they didn't honestly believe were a good value. They were selling products that they made good money from, but that they weren't convinced improved peoples lives.

The solution to avoiding the type of burnout described above is very simple. Don't sell anything that you wouldn't buy yourself.  Don't sell anything that you feel somewhat guilty about offering to others.  It's that simple.  Get a sample of any product that you are thinking about selling, examine it end to end, and ONLY offer it to your market if you're convinced that it will add tremendous VALUE to your customers' lives.

A second thing that burns Internet marketers out ... especially consultants and coaches, is dealing with people who ask you for help but won't commit to helping themselves. You throw your heart and soul into giving someone the best advice that you have.  You spend a lot of time and effort helping someone to research a project and come up with a great plan - only to have them not follow through.  That burns a lot of people out over time.

The way to avoid encountering this type of burnout is to be very selective in agreeing to work with clients. Interview/screen them and confirm that they have the habit of completing tasks.  Confirm that they have a strong enough "reason why" that they will NEVER give up on a dream or a project. These are the people you want as clients. These are the ONLY people that I currently work with - because my time is very limited and I only want to work with people who are willing to help themselves. You should do the same!

Many Internet marketers burn out after growing tired of pushing product after product to a "jaded" market. They see new products "coming down the pike" every day, and they are asked to promote many of them.   Some can't resist this temptation. The problem arises when they realize that MOST of their customers, who buy product after product, NEVER actually use most of them. This becomes disheartening and can lead to burnout.

The solution is to be very selective and to only sell things that that you believe in.  Once you have a product that you really believe improves your customers' lives, don't just promote it for a week or two. Develop a long-term plan and promote it until it's no longer a timely and appropriate product.  Most of your customers will only buy that product after hearing you talk about it over and over again.  So, do repeat mailings for the same product rather than promoting 100 different products.  You'll find that more satisfying :-)

Many people burn out because what they're doing online doesn't fit in with what they see as their "purpose." When you do a job that has no real "meaning" to you, you soon get bored or tired of that job.

The solution is to do something that fits in with something in your life that has meaning... something bigger than just the act of making a few short-term sales.  As an example, I help with a project that, on the surface, sells cookbooks and is producing a television show. When you dig deeper, the project  is helping to build and fund a homeless shelter... perhaps two homeless shelters, in Baton Rouge Louisiana.  That project has a LOT of meaning and purpose to me because I've known so many homeless people... some whom have died largely as a result of being homeless.  I enjoy that project because I can see the "good" that it's doing.

Not every project has to take on such significance, but when one does it's a lot easier to see it through to completion.   It's a lot easier to enjoy working on a project like that, even when the going gets tough!

Another way to avoid Internet marketing burnout is to take control of your time and lead a balanced life. One of the elements missing from many Internet marketers' (that I consult with) lives is that they have no real social life. They spend all of their time sitting in front of a computer and interact with other people face to face very little.  That can turn you into a very lonely place.

You can deal with the "lonely computer person" syndrome by making a conscious effort to get out and do things with neighbors, friends, and relatives. You can also make new friends who share your interest in Internet marketing by attending more Internet marketing seminars and conferences. You can form deep friendships at these events as well as meet new potential business, and joint venture,  partners.

A good place to locate Internet marketing events is:  There may even be inexpensive seminars and conferences within a convenient driving distance from where you live ;-)  Another cause of Internet marketing burnout is the feeling that you are not making any real progress. This is often due to the fact that, without a boss watching over your shoulders,  you have very little discipline and therefore VERY low productivity.

The solution to the low discipline, low productivity problem is simple...  guard against things that decrease your productivity such as instant messenger type programs, hanging out in forums too much, playing games online, etc. If you need to, eliminate... or at least schedule when these things will fit into your day!

Take a course or read a few books on time management. This will help you to see how others gain control over their time, and get much more done.  My favorite book on the topic is by Dan Kennedy, and is called: "No B.S. Time Management For Entrepreneurs - The Ultimate No Holds Barred Kick Butt Take No Prisoners Guide To Time Productivity & Sanity."  I bought a copy off Barnes and Nobles.  Get a copy, read it, and apply some of what Dan teaches... it will free up an amazing amount of time for you.

While you're learning from Dan, also grab a free 3-month subscription to his newsletter.  It will continue helping you to get a grip on your use of time, and also revolutionize your business. You can get a free 3-month subscription at:   Grab it NOW ;-)  The final cause of low productivity that we will examine is lack of focus and trying to do too many different   projects at the same time. You begin to feel overwhelmed and that you are not getting ANY project finished.  The solution to this one is amazingly simple too.. Focus on one thing at a time and see it  through to completion. This gives you that much needed sense of accomplishment AND also gives you some cash flow.  Half-completed products can't be sold. After you've complete a given project, only then do you allow yourself to even NOTICE the next project.

I've just shared with you some common causes of Internet marketing burnout, and how I, and my clients, avoid them.  Apply the appropriate ones to your life today, and you can easily avoid this business killer!

Give Your Articles Away!
How writing articles and giving them to others can drive traffic to your website.
It sounds counterintuitive, but it works: you can pre-sell customers and drive them to your website. The idea behind it is that other sites have what you want: a proven pool of customers who are looking for products and information that you have.  In other words, they're pre-sold on your products. All you have to do is show them the right item and you've got them.
How do you reach these pre-sold customers? By proving that you know your stuff, and then giving them an easy way to reach your products, like a direct link to your website.
The only way you can demonstrate to someone that you know your stuff is through communication; the primary way to communicate online is through writing. It stands to reason, therefore, that if people read what you have written and are impressed, they're going to expect that you know what you're talking about.
So you try to reach as many people with your words as you can. It's that simple, and that complicated.
The Concept: Giving Away Your Words
The one thing that everyone is hungry for online is great quality content – not just words, but words that tell people something they didn't know before: information on a new product, a new use for an old one, consumer information, etc. Think about it – if someone asked you to put a good article on your website
For example, suppose you sell paintball guns and related products. There is a surprisingly large online community for these items, but, perhaps unsurprisingly, not many people who have really good content on the sports surrounding paintball. The sites that do have great information are very popular indeed with aficionados.
These sites usually make money in one of two ways: either they sell items through affiliate links, or they sell advertising on their websites. For instance, if you look at paintball.about.com, you'll find good, constantly-updated information about paintballs, and lots of advertising. About makes money on their advertising and by selling products from sites they're linked to.
But About, and sites like them, are always in need of fresh information and articles, for a few reasons. The older articles have been read; the most valuable customer online is a repeat customer, but if you never update your site information, customers don't come back. Also, the Google search engine spiders have been paying attention lately to sites with fresh content. If you consistently have fresh content on your site, your site will move up in the Google rankings. And that's something everyone wants.
If you can supply these sites with this fresh content, they will keep coming back to you. And as long as your name is on the article as the author, you'll get fresh customers from their site.
Becoming A Guru
Before you start writing articles, you need to know what you're talking about. You become a guru.
First, haunt the online chat rooms, forums, and message boards where people go to talk about your product. Perhaps you think you know everything there is to know about paintball – you're almost certainly wrong. Forums will tell you what your customers are looking for, what information they treasure. And these are the bits of information you want to include when you start writing articles.
Second, make sure you really know what you're talking about. A paintball fan will know pretty quickly whether you're faking it or not, and they won't go to a fake's website.
Once you're secure that you can act as a guru, you're ready to start writing great articles.
How to Write Giveaway Articles
First – not everyone can write. This is a simple fact, so if you're one of them, hold on; there are other alternatives.
If you can write well, and you know your information, you're more than halfway there. Now you just need to understand how to write for an online audience and how to optimize your article.
First, write short. Keep your paragraphs short, make bullets and numbered points in your text whenever you have a list of information, and write in a conversational manner instead of an academic one.
Always do your best to use good grammar, and spellcheck everything.
If you have an article longer than 400 words (that's about one page in MS Word) break it up. You can serialize it, or you can insert headings in the best places for the article to break across web pages.
Finally, choose a set of keywords. These are the words that you think people interested in this article are most likely to search for. For instance, paintball articles should always use "paintball" and "paint ball" as keywords. If you're writing about a specific paintball gun, use the gun's brand name and manufacturer's number as a second keyword.
Sprinkle the keywords throughout your article. Be certain to use them in headers as often as you can: "Paintball for Kids: The Mark X-23". If you can, try to have a 5% frequency of your keyword in your article – that's one keyword every twenty words. Less is okay, particularly if the article sounds better overall, but high keyword count will get your article to rank higher on search engines.
If you write your articles in this way, you'll make your reader happy, convince them that you're a guru, and ensure that your articles do enough good at the website they're donated to that you will continue placing articles there.
What If You Can't Write?
That's okay. You can hire a web content ghostwriter. There's a whole new breed of writers online who can research your information fast, and who can write articles for you based on the information you supply. In general, better writers charge more, but no web content writer should charge you enormous fees.
When you hire your writer, make it clear up front that you're purchasing all rights. This gives you the right to put your name on the article as the writer, establishing your credentials as a guru.
But you should always read through the articles written for you. Make sure the information included in them is accurate and easy to understand. Remember, the article you're placing is your face to your customers.
Where to Place Your Articles, And What Your Terms Should Be
Here's the kicker: when you have your wonderful, informative, keyword-rich article ready, you ask the owner of the website you're placing it at to run the article – at no charge to him – but to please include a link to your website in exchange.
That's it.
With your name and website link attached to your article, a reader whose interest is piqued will click to your site. There he or she will have the opportunity to buy your product; and if you're running advertisements on your website, they'll also rack up a hit for your billing.
The best thing is that you're pre-selling your customer with your informative article. That does not mean your article should be a sales pitch, by the way; instead, you should use your article to teach your reader why he or she needs a specific product, or a range of product, or should come to your site to learn more. This means that you're only telling them about the fantastic stats of the Mark X-23 paintball, and why it's such a great gun for kids. Leave it up to them to decide to go to your site.
You can place articles at dozens of great places. Check first with other sites that deal with items peripheral to your product. For instance, a paintball organization's website might be willing to run your paintball article. There are also dozens of generic websites that run articles on a wide variety of topics, including:

Fringe Benefits: Improving Your Search Engine Rankings
There's one more advantage to placing articles with other websites. You can improve your own site's search engine ranking with each link you build.
If you have your website keyword optimized, you should insist on having a "resource box" at the end of your article. This is a section enclosed in a border that tells the reader a little about you as well as giving them a way to get to your website. "Mark Borders runs FabuWare, home of paintball accessories for the last 20 years."
Notice that your link is not "FabuWare." Instead, it is "paintball accessories." There is an important reason for this.
With plenty of links to your site from other sites, your search engine rankings will go up. This means that along with your free link and pre-selling through the article, you also get a free boost to your website.
If the words that link to your website also match your keyword, your ranking will be boosted much higher than with other links to your website that don't use the keyword. And the only way to do this is to write the resource information yourself and ensure it's used exactly as you wrote it.
To do this, design a reference box with text exactly the way you want it to appear, complete with your link set up, and submit the reference box along with your article.
Recap: What To Remember
Writing articles and giving them away can:
• Make you into a guru
• Allow you to presell your products
• Drive fresh traffic to your site
• Improve your search engine rankings
A single article, properly written, can be worth much more on someone else's site than it would be on your own. Choose carefully, and write it well.

So have you bought a new computer at home for yourself and for your kids? Your computer is sure going to be useful to you and your family. You can now use your computer to store important data, work on reports and much much more. Your children can now surf the internet, play games and learn new tools and software programs. By purchasing a computer you open the world to the big bad world of the internet. Why is the internet a big bad world? The internet can prove to be a big bad world for you if you don't take care to protect your computer from internet threats. In fact the internet is the most comprehensive source of information available at the click of the button today. You can search for diverse topics. You can use the internet to access your bank accounts, to join newsgroups, to entertain yourselves, listen to music and even watch movies. You can even use the internet to speak to people at low costs through VOIP (Voice over Transmission Protocol) all over the world. There are very few boundaries associated with the internet.
But, you should be wary of all the threats that the internet can invite to your computer. First of all let's talk a little about computer viruses. A computer virus is a software program written by a person which can prove to be a threat to the security of your computer. It gains access to your computer through programs downloaded from the internet and even from seemingly harmless emails. It can delete all your important files after it loads itself on the system or it can just make your hard disk unusable. It can disable your important device drivers and can do hundreds of other damaging things to your computer. The software program (or computer virus) spreads rapidly through the internet and can invade thousands of computers a minute.
The best solution against virus invasion is the installation of good antivirus software. Norton Antivirus by Symantec proves to be one of the better paid antivirus solutions. It provides tight security in comparison to some of the other antivirus softwares and also updates itself regularly. The other important software you can use to protect your computer is installing a firewall. A firewall restricts unauthorized access to your computer by people on the internet who are constantly on the lookout for open ports on computers. In addition, if you use the internet to make purchases with your credit card, make sure you are using a trusted and secure site. Secured sites conduct financial transactions using secure software like Verisign so that your private information cannot be viewed by unauthorized people.
When using services or programs that use passwords, always use passwords that are difficult to guess by others. Do not ever open unauthorized emails as they might be harmful to your computer. Unauthorized or unsolicited mails are the most common path to spreads a virus through the internet.
When you visit some sites, a spyware program maybe installed on your computer automatically by those sites. A spyware program is a program that collects all information on your computer including private information that can then be made known to unauthorized people. Using an anti-spyware program like Spyware Blocker or Ad-Aware comes in handy. These programs work to prevent spyware from automatically installing on your computer in the first place. You must also delete your cookies regularly. A cookie is a small file that is automatically installed on your computer and it accesses the information on your computer including the web sites that you have visited and sends all information back to people who need access to that information.
If you use a little care, you can provide some protection to you and your computer. However, the only way to completely eliminate any threats is not to go online in the first place. I don't think that is a viable option in today's world. Good luck!

One of the key responsibilities for any business owner is to ensure that all staff in the workplace enjoy the best protection from accidental injury. By providing the proper safety equipment wherever it is required, the chance of any member of the workforce falling victim to an industrial accident can be minimized.

Depending on the exact nature of your business, the safety equipment required for the optimum protection of staff will differ, and there is no one size fits all solution to creating a secure environment for your workforce. Precautionary measures that prevent people getting too close to machinery, combined with a safety conscious mindset will reduce the incidence of industrial accidents, and as a result reduce unwanted workplace costs to cover compensating employees who get injured.

If you need to provide easy access to trucks in a location where there is no permanent access or dock available, then aluminum loading ramps are the perfect solution. Hardwearing, sturdy, and completely reliable when locked in place, they will enable staff to load and unload the cargo.

Over the past few years, employers have placed increased emphasis on ensuring that all areas of their workplace are as safe and secure as possible to reduce the risk of employee injury. One area where it has traditionally been difficult to protect staff has been the loading bay. Even with a dock in place, it is all too easy for carelessness to lead to accidents where articles are damaged and staff injured needlessly.

By using an aluminum loading ramp for staff to guarantee ease of access to trucks, the risk of falling is significantly reduced. The latest vehicle access ramps are designed with safety and security in mind, and possess a number of innovative features that prevent accidents.

The most obvious safety feature of these ramps is a 1 ½ inch curb that runs up either side of the walkway, and prevents pallet trucks and carts from rolling off the side of the ramp when it is in use. It is a simple and elegant solution that significantly reduces risk. Another area where the latest aluminum loading ramps offer major improvements over any alternative is in the fact that they come complete with a set of sturdy chains that hook into place and prevent the ramp from sliding loose when in use.

Unlike competing products, the aluminum loading ramps offered for sale by some companies are easy to move around, and can be put in place by a single person. Rather than having to lug the heavy and unwieldy ramps into place and secure them, these modern ramps come with the option of different carts to get them into the right place quickly.

You can choose an aluminum loading ramp with either a simple lightweight card that locks into place on the bottom of the ramp and allows for the unit to be wheeled into place quickly by hand, or opt for an adjustable wheel system that can be set at the optimum height using a hand crank. Both options make getting the ramp into position a great deal simpler than any alternative method, and increase the safety of the units in use by locking when in place to prevent unwanted movement.

Thanks to the use of only the highest quality materials in the construction of these lightweight but strong loading ramps, they can support heavy weights up to 2,000 pounds depending on the model. With a variety of lengths available from 6 feet up to 16 feet, and a width of either 28 inches or 38 inches, these aluminum ramps come ready for use, and can be safely used in order to provide access to trucks up to 64 inches in height.

At last, you have decided to take up a broadband connection. How can you choose the right one when there are lot of ISPs around which seems well in a mushrooming market? The very important aspect to look while choosing a broadband provider is making yourself well clear of what all queries you have with for your ISP.

Getting your broadband connection is very important because it's all your money that you pay for it and it needs a big commitment to get a package that should do everything you need. Rushing to go with whatever that comes first to you will mess up with an inappropriate package and push you again to look for another provider to switch.

Beside the speed and download limit concerns, here is the list of key issues to check with before getting a Broadband internet.

1. Fixed or dynamic IP address?

On having an ADSL connection, users are given an IP address, which can be either static or dynamic. A static IP address does not change, no matter how many time your modem is switched on and off in a day. Dynamic IP address is which supplied every time you put on your internet modem. So your IP address changes every time you login to internet.

It is important, if your PC is networked with any kind of server, as you need to have a fixed IP address. It is not suitable having an IP address that change all the time for the people who have this kind of setup.

2. Will you be allowed having a Server?

Few ISPs restrict to have a server within. You should check the terms of contract for this as some other physically block the server related parts in the connection.

People requiring a web, FTP or mail server within their network must check the ports 80, 21 and 25 respectively and see whether they are enabled or not.

3. What Contention Ratio you will have?

The idea in the networking area is usual for sharing the existing infrastructure. In ADSL broadband, you share the existing bandwidth with others and is termed contention ratio. Less you share, faster is your broadband. Single user packages usually come with a contention ratio of 50:1 whereas the expensive options are of 20:1 ratio.

For home users this cannot be an issue because a situation like being on internet for downloading a file at same time cannot happen. Most people use a part of the offered bandwidth at a given time when the rest won't be working online.

But this is very important for business users. A lower contention ratio (20:1) will be advantageous if you frequently download files, call using VoIP and mail a lot.

4. Price and Duration

Price is the biggest aspect to be scrutinized before having an ADSL connection. Once you have decided having a package, you need to compare the similar package with the other ISPs. After choosing your ISP you need to check for the below:

•What is the minimum period for having the service and additional charges for early termination?
•Is your connection, contract based or pay-as-you-go type?
•Is the connection price VAT included?

5. Service support?

Broadband is a maturing service and problems are inevitable. Therefore, it is must to have a service within, which actually supports anytime you met with a problem. This support comes as a part of the whole package. It may be a 24/7 telephone support or a support engineer in you premises when you have a problem needing an engineer to sort it out. The important thing here is what exactly this support is and how it will work for you. They may be in different form and you must be sure about it.

So is your telephone support a 24/7 service or only available from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm? A complete support available anytime is important because web surfing is anytime activity and people may have habit of surfing heavy on a weekend holiday. In addition, you should have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) if you are not available with the support service.

Having a Broadband service needs some considerable financial commitment from you. Therefore, you need to be well clear before signing-in and being successful with it will make your broadband experience more pleasurable.

More and more people turn to online shopping every day. The number of people shopping online is staggering. With this increase the instances of credit card fraud has also started to increase very rapidly. If someone steals your credit card nowadays, they can easily run up a large bill online shopping with fraudulent purchases. Before the days of the Internet, when someone stole your credit card, there was still a chance that someone would ask for identification before they would let you buy something. However the Internet takes that human interaction out of buying, so it is harder to stop people from making fraudulent purchases. Here are a few tips for safe online shopping.

The first tip that you should do when safely shopping online is to make sure that the web site you are shopping on is a reputable web site and that any payment screen is part of a secured site. You can tell if a web site is secured by looking in the bottom right hand corner of the browser for a padlock. If the lock is locked, then you are on a secure site. If the lock is not locked, then you are not on an unsecured site.

The next tip for safe online shopping you should make sure you do is to make your login information on your account confidential, and very strong. What I mean by strong is that your username should not just be your name, and your password needs to be something different than your birthday. A good password should be at least eight characters long with letters, numbers, different capitalizations, and also some special characters like a $. This will make it almost impossible for someone to "guess" your password when trying to login to your account.

The final tip for safe online shopping is to keep your antivirus up-to-date, and not to click on links that you are not sure about. Some of the worst viruses on the Internet today try to steal your personal information so someone else can use it to make fraudulent charges. If you keep your antivirus up-to-date, then you will have a smaller chance of getting any of these very harmful viruses.

With the growing concern for security, there are plenty of associations and establishments that could benefit from an increase in the safety measures regarding employees, property, and information. Companies, small businesses, not-for-profit groups, and even schools should take advantage in enhancing the way they protect their interests. Below you will find a few suggestions that could help boost security for an array of different institutions:

Photo ID System

While high schools and large businesses may already utilize photo identification cards, smaller businesses and other associations might not have tapped into the convenience of such a tool. Some of the best photo ID systems are those that delegate varying levels of access according to your rank in a company. With the swipe of an electronic card, gaining entrance to top-level regions of a company are not only monitored but controlled as to who may have access to important files and other information. Implementing such a system can avoid the mishandling of vital data.

Metal Detectors and X-Ray Scans

Unfortunately, we live in a society that has made metal detectors and X-ray scans a necessary tool for increasing the security of a building. High schools and even middle schools across the country have already set up metal detectors to stop the flow of violence and weapon possession. Since drugs are becoming an increasing disturbing problem, X-ray scans may replace the strip and purse searches that are taking place in a handful of institutions. Violence also extends to the corporate world and other business settings, as disgruntled employees have been known to handle their stress in an inappropriate manner. Metal detectors and X-ray scans can avoid physical contact pertaining to employees and students.

Camera Installation

While security guards, onsite police officers, or high school principals don't have eyes in the back of their heads, cameras may act as an extra set. Camera installation allows officials and executives to get to the root of many problems that may arise in their work setting. For example, the mysterious decrease in office supplies is finally solved through the review of several weeks of tapes or who started the food fight in lunch can be dissected. Cameras not only solve problems, but can help avoid them as well.

Enhanced Computer Protection

In some settings, the computer has become an encyclopedia of personal information regarding a company or school. Important and private files are stored and although passwords and user names are a must to gain access, they are still not 100% protected. Today, a lot of work is also completed on laptops, which are easily portable and make easy theft subjects. Buying laptop security devices allow workers to leave their office or desk without the fear of returning to a stolen computer.  Security cables are used to attach the laptop to a heavy chair, table, or desk, making it quite hard for someone to run off with one.

Tightening Financial Controls

One of the biggest fears that an executive or company owner has is the threat of employee theft or dishonesty. These acts of disobedience and disregard can cost the largest businesses billions of dollars on a yearly basis. In the small company sector, embezzlement, stolen inventory, and information leakage can seriously damage the success of a business. To prevent these occurrences and loss of money, tighter financial controls should be implemented.

You're a wonderful service provider, whether you're a massage therapist, real estate agent, mortgage broker, web designer, etc.  However, as a service provider, you have only so many hours in the day to work with your clients, yet there are still hundreds and hundreds of people in the world who could really use the knowledge and expertise you hold about the service you provide.

Enter the eCourse.  eCourses are a timed-released format of delivering valuable information to your customer base via email.  The course segment emails consist of shorter pieces of information that can be consumed in generally 1-2 minutes.  Using autoresponder technology, the lessons can be delivered with a specific interval of time in between and delivered automatically, with no regular human attention needed beyond the setup of the eCourse.  How cool is that?

Never been exposed to an eCourse?  Here's one you can sign up for right now: "5 Keys to Putting Money in Your Pocket with a Virtual Assistant",

The eCourse can be offered free of charge and used as a marketing tool to gather contact information from prospective clients and to expose them to your expertise and sell them on your products and services.  Or, it can be offered for a fee for clients who might want to get a taste of what you offer but aren't willing to pay your full service fee yet.

An eCourse is pretty simple to write.  Come up with a topic that is appropriate for your target market.  Each lesson becomes a simple article.  Write 5-10 lessons, and you have a terrific eCourse on your hands.  Or, if you like to write Top 10 lists, create one of those and make each bullet point become one of your lessons for the eCourse. Write your eCourse in a comfortable and conversational tone--just as though the reader were sitting down to have a chat and a cup of coffee with you. Include new and innovative information in what you're writing so that the reader is assured that you're the expert.  Give some real-life stories or practical applications about how the reader can apply the information in your eCourse. Cite valuable resources in your materials that will further help your reader.  To keep your reader motivated and empowered, sprinkle some inspiration in with your eCourse message. You'll want your reader to come away with useful and valuable information and be anxious to receive or buy further information or expertise from you.

If you've been in business for awhile, you know that it takes 7-10 "touches" for a client to decide to buy your product or service.  A multi-issue eCourse gives the prospective client multiple opportunities to "check you out".  And, because you're getting in front of the prospective client each time s/he receives a new segment of the eCourse, the eCourse permits the prospective client to get to know you before hiring you, thus making the eCourse the perfect relationship builder and lead generator.

Once you have the content for your eCourse, you can format it in plain text, or in HTML, using a program like FrontPage.  However, you won't want to have to personally send out the ecourse to everyone who subscribes, so I use the autoresponder and subscription features that come as part of my shopping cart program.  You can sign up for a free 30-day trial here and use all of the features of the program:http://www.kickstartcart.com/app/?pr=31&id=59401

Demonstrate to the world what a phenomenal service provider you are.  Start drafting your first eCourse today!
